Caution: Strong language ahead as the Democrat Party reviews their shaky footing as one scandal and embarrassment cascades onto another.
On Monday, a reporter for the often-liberal National Journal reported that a top Democratic strategist with ties to the White House and Capitol Hill wrote an email with a subject line “Dem Party is F****d.”
Ron Fournier, the National Journal reporter, noted that the email linked to an article in the Los Angeles Times that has joined the rest of the usually-lefty publications who have grown tired of defending he indefensible Obamacare healthcare overhaul.
The L.A. Times piece discusses the “sticker shock” felt by victims of extortion Obamacare customers who have seen their healthcare insurance costs skyrocket as they undertake the nauseatingly frustrating crusade to navigate the Obamacare website or hotline to find healthcare insurance. The L.A. Times
“These middle-class consumers are staring at hefty increases on their insurance bills as the overhaul remakes the healthcare market. Their rates are rising in large part to help offset the higher costs of covering sicker, poorer people who have been shut out of the system for years.”
“Although recent criticism of the healthcare law has focused on website glitches and early enrollment snags, experts say sharp price increases for individual policies have the greatest potential to erode public support for President Obama’s signature legislation.”
The Democratic strategist also detailed the outrage felt by Americans who feel betrayed as President Obama has reneged on his promise, “if you like your healthcare plan, you can keep it.” The strategist included an article from Businessinsider.com that plainly notes that the promise was an unreasonable promise.
Obamacare has been pushed and pushed against massive resistance from the Tea Party and conservative elements of the Republican Party. Though moderate Republicans have maintained an official stance against Obamacare, the true resistance to the increasingly-unsustainable healthcare overhaul has come from conservatives who have made it their goal to stop the trainwreck.
As conservatives have weathered the storm of criticisms from the left and even from their own Party, public sentiments is starting to turn on Obamacare as people are forced off of their current healthcare plans and forced to purchase Obamacare plans or otherwise face penalties. Further, people are noting that in many cases the Obamacare regulations are forcing them to pay much more for insurance, in some instances, as much as ten-times more.
Adding fuel to the fire, Congress has exempted themselves from the monstrous overhaul and has a massive subsidy program designed that puts the burden of insurance costs for the poor on the middle and upper class.
As Obamacare’s popularity continues to plunge, the Obama Administration has been working feverishly to downplay the significance of the healthcare exchange website failures that costs taxpayers $634 million, but continues to run in a manner that makes Windows 95 look technologically advanced by comparison.
The unnamed Democratic strategist may be correct when he laments that the Democrats are “F****d.” While any one aspect of the Obamacare failure might be recoverable, the totality of the numerous failures only invites the question, “If there are this many problems after years of designing it, how can we expect them to administer our healthcare system?”
Obamacare has been the hallmark achievement for this president. The Democrats who once fawned over the absentee Senator-turned-president have seemingly realized that Obamacare may be the one achievement of this two-term president. Having invested massive political capital into this defunct overhaul, the Democrats have tied themselves to a sinking ship.
…And they know it.
Yes, the Democrats may very well be “F****d.”
