The left is going off the rails on the crazy train these days. Sure, we have had our disagreements with the left. And yes, we have even questioned their patriotism and love for this country. But now, we are forced to question their sanity.
I don’t mean to be dismissive- not all on the left have gone off the deep end. It is their representatives that have me scratching my head, muttering, “What did he just say?”
There are plenty of liberals with whom I disagree, but we can have a conversation where we can respectfully counter each other’s contentions. But as America becomes further embroiled in the gun rights issues, the patients have taken over the asylum and are running the liberal show- and it’s not pretty.
In their crusade to curry public favor against guns, the left is willing to engage in an all-out assault on our rights and the weapons themselves. Knowing what they say to be absurdly false, many just spout off half-truths and mostly flat-out lies. They call rifles “military-style assault weapons” and call them “automatic rifles” when in fact, they are common, semi-automatic rifles that share cosmetic features similar to fully-automatic rifles which function completely differently.
Last week, Jesse Jackson tried to scare those that don’t know any better by claiming that “assault rifles” can shoot down airplanes. Airplanes!
On America’s Newsroom, he stated, “These semi-automatic weapons, these assault weapons, can only kill people, and in fact, they are threats to national security … the young man who did the killing in Aurora, Colorado … he could shoot down airplanes, so this is a matter of homeland security as well.”
Unbelievable. But in the war against our rights, the ends justify the means, right, Jesse?
Also last week, political speechwriter Wendy Button wrote an op-ed for The New York Times entitled, “Please Take Away My Right to a Gun.” In it, she expressed that since she had depression, that President Obama should do more to restrict Second Amendment rights because depressed people might get their hands on guns.
She even went so far as to write, “Please take away my Second Amendment right.” This was after she wrote a detailed description of how when an intruder was trying to break down her door, she called the police- you know, men with guns.
Senators have called out the NRA for being a “fringe group.” A certain smug, British media personality will attack anyone who disagrees with him, shouting over them, “Why do you need an ‘assault weapon!’” The White House expresses disgust over the NRA’s discussion of President Obama’s willingness to protect his children by men with guns, but will parade children in front of the cameras as some sort of validation of his radical, unconstitutional agenda. The left has gone mad!
As we march forward with the dutiful resolve to help maintain our God-given rights affirmed and guaranteed by our Constitution, please bear in mind that we are passionate and we are plenty. We aim not to disparage the left, but only to advocate for what is right. We are glad that you can join us.
