MSNBC leftist zealot Chris Matthews offered some begrudging praise to Tea Party Senator Ted Cruz in his handling of the Obamacare crisis and the government shutdown that went into effect on Tuesday morning.
Chris Matthews called Sen. Cruz “brilliant,” but seemed to qualify the remark as being brilliant in a Machiavellian way that is detrimental to the liberal agenda.
Matthews also claimed that President Obama, for whom Matthews holds an arguably unhealthy infatuation, has “met his match” when dealing with Sen. Cruz.
While plugging his new book that waxes nostalgically about the days when radical politics did not engulf Washington, Matthews tipped his hand and deviated from his typical portrayal of Sen. Cruz as a monster, but as a formidable political foe for Democrats.
“I think Ted Cruz is brilliant. I think the President’s met his match in this guy. He set this thing up months ago with no budget agreement, therefore no appropriations, therefore the government would be completely exposed this morning at midnight last night to go to, to completely shut down. So he knows what he’s doing. And it’s about the baby, Obama’s baby. And you can’t cut the baby in half. We learned that in Solomon. And they keep saying, ‘Please negotiate your baby. Please help us take it apart.’”
Matthews claimed last week that Sen. Cruz is “a problem for our republic.” More specifically, it seems that Matthews is genuinely scared of the political prowess of Sen. Cruz and what he represents to the liberal establishment that may be sweating about what a Cruz ticket might mean for Democrats in the 2016 presidential run.
