The Obama Administration and other hawks throughout the Democratic and Republican Parties continue to try and stir up public support for a military strike on Syria. As leaders claim it is a moral imperative for America to interject ourselves into the civil war that ravages Syria to aid the rebels, the fact remains that much of the Syrian opposition is closely-linked to terrorist groups, including Al Qaeda and Al Nusra.
Many GOP leaders and even several Democrats have wondered how the Syrian civil war affects national security interests for America. The answer is, by nearly everyone’s estimation, is that it doesn’t. The Obama Administration’s push for intervention seems largely rooted in humanitarian reasons coupled with face-saving measures after the president repeatedly warned Assad against the use of chemical weapons.
On Wednesday, at an event in Stockholm, Sweden, Obama stated, “My credibility is not on the line. The international community’s credibility is on the line. And America and Congress’s credibility is on the line.”
However, while the U.S. is certainly justified in condemning the use of chemical weapons on any populations, intelligence reports indicate that the Syrian rebels are not idealistic freedom fighters, but every bit as murderous as the Assad regime and have already set their sights on the elimination of Christians in Syria.
On Wednesday, Al Qaeda launched an attack on the Christian village of Maaloula near Damascus, Syria. They firebombed the village and launched mortar and missile attacks against Christian churches in the village while spraying the entrances with bullets.
The Associated Press reported that the Al Qaeda-linked Syrian rebels,
“launched an assault on a regime-held Christian mountain village in the densely populated west of Syria and new clashes erupted near the capital, Damascus, on Wednesday… In the attack on the village of Maaloula, rebels commandeered a mountaintop hotel and nearby caves and shelled the community below, said a nun, speaking by phone from a convent in the village. She spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals.”
Videos of the attacks have the terrorists shouting “Allahu Akbar!” Of course, Senator John McCain absurdly stated earlier this week that “Allah Akbar,” the ancient Islamic war cry, is the equivalent of Christians saying, “Thank God.” McCain also postured that the Syrian rebels are “moderate.”
Arabic News agency Al Hadath has noted the Syrian rebels’ terrorist attacks against Christians in Syria. Al Hadath also noted that Syrian rebels “terrorized the Christians, threatening to be avenged on them after the triumph of the revolution.”
While Al Qaeda-linked Syrian opposition groups await the intervention of U.S. military forces to aid them in their fight against the Assad regime, they eagerly await the day that they can oppress, if not slaughter, Christians, non-Muslims and other secularists.
The Obama Administration may be lying to the American public about the true nature of the Al Qaeda-backed Syrian rebels- they may even be lying to themselves- but the fact remains that the Syrian rebels the Obama Administration continues to portray as downtrodden freedom fighters are every bit as murderous and corrupt as the Assad regime.
