Obama Admin Delusions of Grandeur Come Crashing Down

Self-delusion is a powerful thing. The liberals have taken a pounding over the last year and they have often turned to self-delusion as a means of coping. This year has been rough for two reasons:

First, their golden idol, The Anointed One, has been found to be a disappointment. While many are still not ready to say the words out loud, it’s okay- they don’t have to. It is represented by the anguish in the faces and the tone in the voice when they attempt to defend a policy. It’s the language used: “Alright, so he’s not exactly what I thought he would be, but…”

The man whose face appeared in children’s books and inspired the left in a way not seen since Jack Kennedy has fallen from grace. That is a tough blow. It’s like finding out the truth about Santa Claus.

Secondly, their golden idol is being challenged by a man who embodies everything they despise. And worse yet, he stands a very good chance at winning.

Though some conservatives have questioned the conservative leanings of the former Governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney’s stances, to me, represent a willingness to work with Democrats as a choice to get some things done rather than nothing at all in a state swarming with Democrats- a lesson President Obama has chosen to ignore. Now that we are seeing Romney run on a national level, we are seeing his willingness to adhere to the principles of the base that hopes to elect him. The liberals hate him because he espouses self-sufficiency, the promotion of capitalism, strong foreign policy and down-home conservative values that grind the teeth of oh-so-enlightened liberals who believe American principles are for backwards rednecks. Mitt Romney represents a turning back the clock to ideas that worked, and that scares the “progressives” who wish to “progress” until we turn into Greece.

The liberal media has been trying to spin the near-constant barrage of bad news hitting the Obama Campaign. In a mistaken belief that wishful thinking will create an alternate reality, the liberal media recently tried to “spin” the polls to deter Republican voter turnout. Oversampling Democrats, wording the question leadingly, taking a miniscule core-sampling- they tried everything and still came up with Obama by four or five. Finally, after the first presidential debate, the left couldn’t hide the enthusiasm anymore, and they had to change tactics.

After Biden’s embarrassingly inappropriate debate Thursday night, the left has gone into full-spin mode, trying to paint the narrative of a tough-talking Vice President Biden who stood firm. Biden stood firm in the same way Kanye West stood firm against Taylor Swift- obnoxiously and in a manner reeking of tactlessness.

As the partisan hacks at Politico and MSNBC praise the Biden performance, they conspicuously gloss over the fact that Biden interrupted Ryan an astonishing 82 times, all the while laughing, yelling and scoffing like a heckler at a comedy club- a fact that will not rest well with undecided voters. Nobody likes a jerk.

Furthermore, the CNBC results claim a Ryan victory 56-36. Likewise, the Associated Press called it for Ryan 51-43, CNN called it for Ryan 48-44 and a CNN focus group called it a tie.

Whereas once the media was dedicated to reporting reality, now the leftist media tries to create reality, and that is exactly what they’re doing by spinning this fiasco on Thursday. Don’t buy into it. Self-delusion is a powerful thing. We will see if Biden has so much to laugh about in November.
