The Tea Party Movement is a fantastic grassroots effort. Across the country, people stood up to make their voices heard at a time when America needed honest, hardworking people to come out of the woodwork to stand up for a government by the people. It has honestly been a pleasure watching how far we have come.
However, as many of you know, the work is far from done.
Our government is in turmoil and as we approach the looming economic crisis, we must hold steady and remember that the easiest path is not always the right one. It would be easy to compromise, to cave-in to the tired, flawed economic policies that landed us in this mess in the first place. It would be easier to try and justify raising taxes- this time. But Americans are taxed enough. And we can’t honestly believe that the recent calls for increased taxation would slate the thirst for additional revenue from a government that continues to spend despite being broke.
Raising taxes on those families making over $250,000 will hinder support for the middle class. It is businesses that employ the middle class, and raising the tax rate will only discourage growth.
Americans are taxed enough and we must make our voices heard and our message understood clearly; we do not want a deal made to avoid the fiscal cliff where tax increases are included. America doesn’t have a revenue problem, it has a spending problem. We need to fix that.
Congress needs to be reminded of the power of the Tea Party. On Wednesday, December 12th, 2012, TheTeaParty.net will join together with top conservative leaders in Washington D.C. to present over 150,000 individually signed petitions demanding that GOP leaders refuse any proposed tax increase.
The press conference will include Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, Georgia Congressman Paul Broun, TheTeaParty.net, leading Tea Party activist Niger Innis and other conservative leaders.
To have your voice heard, sign the petition here.
